This is a true story. I had so much trouble finding people to set up my guitars and do guitar repairs for me I had to sell my transmission shop of 25 years and learn how to fix guitars. Then I opened up a guitar repair shop.
Even a brand new guitar needs to be set up. Every guitar player should enjoy how nice their instrument plays after it is set up properly. Every guitar I own gets setup right after I give it a test play.
Guitar repairs are truly for people who believe in, and are looking for ‘old world craftsmanship’. A musical instrument, like a guitar is very sensitive, and every one of them have a personality of their own. This may not be noticeable to a young guitar player, but a veteran guitarist can easily hear and feel the difference in ‘personality’s of instruments.
Some personal traits a guitar player may be looking for are a particular tone. Tone can be adjusted many ways, it’s up to your imagination. The type of (tone) wood makes a tremendous difference in how a guitar sounds. That’s why some special artists like Eric Clapton have Custom Shop Guitars built by Fender Guitar Company. Those guitars are hand built by the same people that build Eric Clapton’s guitar. Using the exact same electrical parts, accessories and set up he uses.
We also fix structural damage to any part of he guitar, from the guitar neck to the body. With the proper tools and a lifetime being a craftsman, this type of work comes naturally to me and I enjoy it. One of my specialties is fixing longitudinally cracked glue-on guitar necks. I honed this shill to an unparalleled degree. Which allows me to make repairs to necks other guitar repair shops or luthiers won’t even get close to.
